HYDERABAD: A video of a man sharing his views on Bollywood filmmakers is viral on social media. Users claim that he is Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Facebook users are sharing the video with a caption in Hindi that roughly translates to, "Listen to this interview of Assam's Chief Minister. He is shedding some light on the situation of the country." (Original: असम के cm साहब का छोटा सा इंटरव्यू सुन लो देश के बारे में कुछ प्रकाश डाल रहे है।)

FACT CHECK:

The claim that the man in the viral video is Assam Chief Minister is false.

NewsMeter noticed the logo of 'OpIndia' at the top left corner in the viral video. Taking this as a hint, the fact check team searched online for the longer video and found it on the 'OpIndia Hindi' YouTube channel dated July 24, 2021. According to the description, the man in the video is stand-up comedian Nitin Gupta. The viral clipping can be seen after 12.35 minutes.

Nitin Gupta is a stand-up comedian who has done over 700 shows across corporate and college campuses. (Book My Show). As per his LinkedIn profile, Nitin Gupta is the founder of 'Humour Beings', a stand-up comedy company based in India.

A photo comparison between Nitin Gupta and Assam CM Hemant Biswa Sharma clearly indicates that the man in the viral video is not Biswa Sharma.

Therefore, it is clear that the viral video clip shows comedian Nitin Gupta and not the Assam CM.

Thus, the claim is false.
