The claim comes after Hindenburg Research released a report accusing the Gautam Adani-led group of ā€œbrazen stock manipulation and accounting fraud.ā€

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the photo shows Rahul Gandhi with Niels Annen. He is a German politician and is currently serving as Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

On performing a reverse image search, we found the same photo posted by Rahul Gandhi on Facebook on 22 August 2018. The caption read, ā€œMet Niels Annen, Minister of State of the Federal Foreign Office, and discussed politics, floods in Kerala, GST & Jobs.ā€

Niels Annen also posted the same photo on Twitter on 22 August 2018. In the caption, he stated that he was Honored to receive Rahul Gandhi in his constituency EimsbĆ¼ttel in Hamburg.

The official Twitter handle of the Congress party also posted the photo on 22 August 2022.

On 22 August 2018, The Times of India used the photo in an article titled ā€œIn Hamburg, Rahul Gandhi discusses Kerala floods, GST with German minister.ā€

The photo shows Rahul Gandhi with the German politician Niels Annen, not Hindenburg Research founder and chief, Nathan Anderson. Hence, we conclude that the claim is false.
