Fact Check

NewsMeter ran a keyword search but did not find any news report confirming that Das has announced helpline numbers for the Mobile payments Apps.

On performing a reverse image search of the viral videos' keyframe, we found a video of a press conference addressed by Das live-streamed on the RBI's YouTube channel on 5 May 2021. The video has the same footage as the viral video. The address was on the second wave of COVID-19 and the economy, but we did not find Das announcing any helpline number of Mobile payments Apps in the entire video of 29.8 minutes.

Further, we ran a keyword search and found a video by a digital creator, Mausam Nagpal titled "How to Block a Digital Wallet." The audio in the viral video is taken from this video of Nagpal.

The fact check handle of PIB has also debunked the viral video stating "The voice heard in this video is not of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das."

It is evident that the audio in the viral video is not of Shaktikanta Das, and it was digitally added. Hence, the claim is false.
