Hyderabad: Social media users are sharing a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a railway station, standing below a clock that shows the time as 4:20.

In Hindi, 420 is used for fraudsters or tricksters who fool others for their own benefit.

Several Twitter users shared the photo with a sarcastic caption that read, "What an apt capture."

Fact Check

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found the original photo in an article published by Livemint on 14 December 2021. It showed the time as 01:13. According to the article, the photo was taken when Mr. Modi visited the Banaras railway station at night. During the visit, he said the Central government was working to improve railway connectivity as well as ensure clean, modern, and passenger-friendly railway stations.

Mr. Modi had tweeted about his visit to Banaras railway station on 14 December and posted three photos, including the one that has been morphed.

It is evident that in the original photo the clock shows the time as 1:13 and not 4:20 as seen in the viral photo. Hence, we conclude that the viral photo is misleading.
