Hyderabad: A photograph of Union minister Smriti Irani reading a book on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is being widely circulated on social media. The book's cover has a photo of Rahul Gandhi and is titled "Rahul Gandhi's Day-to-Day Schedule 2022-2023."

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search of the photo and found that Smriti Irani had tweeted the original photo on 18 September 2022. However, in this photo, Mrs. Irani is reading a book that has a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is titled "Modi@20."
The book "Modi@20" is about the 20-year political journey of Mr. Modi. It is a collection of 21 chapters co-authored by 22 domain dignitaries, from Home Minister Amit Shah to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and others.
Mrs. Irani launched the Hindi version of the book along with Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde on 18 September in Patna, Bihar.
It is evident that the photograph of Smriti Irani reading a book on Rahul Gandhi is morphed. Hence, the claim is false.
