Hyderabad: Amid Adani's takeover of NDTV, senior journalist Ravish Kumar resigned from the news channel. Following this, a clip of BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra is going viral on social media with the claim that he will replace Ravish Kumar and host a show on NDTV.
The viral clip looks like a clip from an NDTV report. Twitter has been flooded with the posts.
Let's check the authenticity of the viral claim.
FACT CHECK
NewsMeter performed a reverse image search using the keyframes of the viral clip and found that the viral video was uploaded on the official YouTube channel of India Today in 2018. The description reads, "'BJP spokesperson, Sambit Patra takes the anchor seat of the 'To The Point' show on India Today to discuss whether the united opposition is a real challenge to Modi."
Senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai had tweeted the video in 2018 and written, "Stellar show by @sambitswaraj as an @IndiaToday guest anchor; super send up/parody of prime time news debate."
This proves that the clip is neither recent nor does it have anything to do with Ravish Kumar's resignation from NDTV. It's an old video from 2018 where Sambit Patra anchored a show on India Today.
Hence, the claim is false.
