Fact Check: Movie scene of police torturing man passed off as real incident

Hyderabad: Several social media users are sharing a video showing a number of policemen brutally torturing a man in public.

The video is being shared to show the alleged brutality of police under the BJP government.

The caption of the video reads: “Don't know where this video is from, but strict action should be taken against the savage policeman, the government to has filled so much hatred that people have come down to brutality.”

Let's find out where this video hails from.

NewsMeter found the claim to be false as the video is from a short film and not a real incident.

Upon performing a reverse image search, we found the short on YouTube channel on `Vipin Pandey 173', It carried the same shot of a policeman brutally beating a man. "Coming soon video so please support my YouTube channel," the scroll read.

Taking this as a cue, we found the YouTube channel of Vipin Pandey and found that, it's actually a channel named Vipin Pandey entertainment productions.

The shorts section of this YouTube channel contains 4 more such bytes of police brutality which is a part of their short film named 'Dosti ki Saja'.

In the description section of the short film, we found that along with the names of the crew member and contributors in the short film, it is mentioned that the short film is actually based on the Sakshi murder case that took place in Delhi on 28 June 2023 where a boy named Sahil Khan brutally stabbed Sakshi Singh to death.'

Hence, it is evident that the viral video is merely a byte from a short film and does not show any actual incident of police brutality under the BJP government.
