Hyderabad: A video is going viral on social media with the claim that a pregnant Hindu girl was murdered by her Muslim boyfriend in Haridwar. The claim accompanying the video states that the woman was pregnant and had asked her boyfriend for marriage.
In the video, we can see the dead body of a girl stuffed in a suitcase and a man sitting on the ground surrounded by a crowd accusing him of the womanās murder.
Sharing the post on Facebook, a user wrote, āMohammad Gulsher made his girlfriend Kajal pregnant for the first two years in Jwalapur, Halala, Haridwar. Mohammad Gulsher murdered her after she pressured him to marry her. Kajalās body was found in the suitcase while he was going to Clear Guest House. The police have arrested Mohammad Gulsher. Using a reverse image search, we found a video uploaded by TV9 Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand on March 25, 2022. The video was titled, āRoorkee crime news: The lover was roaming around with his girlfriendās dead body in a suitcase, when the police caught him, he told this reasonā¦ā (Translated from Hindi)
We can see the viral video at the 2:03-minute mark in the video. According to the video, the crime took place at Piran Kaliyar of Uttarakhand.
Using keyword searches, we found a News18 report published on March 26, 2022, with the title, āKaliyar murder case: Girlās body found in a suitcase, boy first fabricated a story and then revealed the reason for the murder.ā
According to the report, Gulsher alias Gulbez murdered his girlfriend at a guest house in Piran Kaliyar. They were in a relationship, despite pressure from Gulsher, the girl refused to marry him. He confessed to killing her by suffocating her with a pillow. He stuffed her body in a suitcase and was discovered by the hotel staff while trying to drag the heavy suitcase.
A Times of India report dated March 26, 2022, stated that the incident took place on March 24, 2022.
The report is titled, āUttarakhand: Man kills lover in hotel, tries to take body out in suitcase.ā
āThe man has been identified as Gulzeb Hussain Ansari, a resident of Jwalapur, Haridwar,ā stated the report. The girl was identified as Ramsa Ansari.
The report also mentioned the name of the girlās father as Mohammad Rashid Ansari and the name of her uncle as Mohammad Yunus Ansari. This confirmed that the victim was from a Muslim family, just like her alleged stalker.
An ETV Bharat report of the incident was published on March 25, 2022, with the title, āāSuitcase murder caseā: Lover kills woman, stuffs her body in suitcase for disposal over marriage disapproval.ā
The report stated that the accused admitted to carrying out the murder with prior planning. āThe suitcase was already brought, and the fake ID of the girl with the name Kajal on it was deposited at the hotel,ā said the report.
ETV Bharat also stated that the police said the girlās fake ID was used to get a room in the hotel. The girl was a resident of Mangalore and a distant relative of the accused.
The accused did not commit the murder to escape marriage with his pregnant girlfriend. The ETV Bharat report stated that during interrogation, the accused informed the police that the girlās family opposed their marriage, and she sided with them. Enraged by this, he killed her, placed her body in a suitcase, and was on his way to dispose of it in the Gangnahar canal.
It is also clear that the victim and the accused belonged to the Muslim community and are distant relatives.
