Fact Check

NewsMeter found the claim to be false.

On performing a keyword search, we found a similar video on YouTube. On carefully analyzing the video, we found some Urdu text on the back of the capsule strip, manufactured by City Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Sector 5, Karachi.

Taking the address as a cue, we performed a keyword search that led us to the LinkedIn page of the manufacturing company. The bio states that the laboratory is located in Karachi, Pakistan.

We then tried to find the distribution pattern of the viral capsule in India. A keyword search led us to a website named SK+F which manufactures Esoral 20 mg capsules. It is located in Bangladesh. We could not find out if the drug is manufactured in India.

Lastly, there are no media reports or case studies on nails being found inside capsules in India. Hence, we conclude that “medicine jihad” is propaganda to spread chaos and hatred. Please don’t fall for it.
