Screengrab of Twitter post

An image of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi standing in front of a table and a nameplate identifying him as ā€œRahul Rajiv Ferozā€ is going viral on social media.

The nameplate also has a weird designation for Rahul Rajiv Feroz, which reads, ā€œGold from Potato expert, Wayanad, Kerala.ā€

A Twitter user shared the image with the caption, ā€œThis nameplate is Correct. Everyone should use his original name. Rahul Rajiv Feroz.ā€

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the nameplate has been morphed. The unedited photo shows a blank nameplate.

On performing a reverse image search, we found the same photo tweeted by Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera on March 1, 2023. This photo shows a blank nameplate.

Khera has stated in the caption that Rahul Gandhi was speaking on Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Indian Overseas Congress President Sam Pitroda posted the image on March 1, 2023. This photo also shows a blank nameplate. Pitroda mentioned in the caption that the image is from Rahul Gandhiā€™s lecture at Cambridge University.

An ABP News report titled ā€œNeed New Thinking For Democratic Systems: Rahul Gandhi At Cambridge Universityā€ carried the same image. It also shows a blank nameplate.

Finally, we checked the Congress Partyā€™s YouTube and found the lecture was live-streamed on March 3, 2023. A closer look shows nameplates carrying no name.

Hence, we conclude that the nameplate identifying the Congress leader as ā€œRahul Rajiv Ferozā€ is morphed.
