Fact Check: News about passing away of actress Divya Spandana is fake

Social media is abuzz with the claim that actor-politician Divya Spandana has passed away due to a heart attack.

An X premium user posted the image of the actor and wrote, “Shocking News: Actress Divya Spandana passed away due to Heart Attack” Just couldn’t believe. Is this true ??? Or Fake news ???”

NewsMeter found that the claim is false.

We ran a keyword search and came across a post by the editor-in-chief of The News Minute, Dhanya Rajendran, clarifying that the news about Divya Spandana's demise is fake.

She wrote, “It was really the strangest conversation, kept calling @divyaspandana and she didn't pick first few times and naturally I was panicking. Finally, she did and I had to say-I am glad you are alive, She is like who the hell is saying I died!"

We also came across a report by India Today titled 'Divya Spandana alive and fine', clarifies Congress after death rumours.” The report was based on the clarification put out by KT Lakshmi Kanthan, the chairman of the IT and Social Media Dept of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee.

NDTV report also clarified that the rumour of the demise of Kannada actor and former member of the Lok Sabha is false. It said that the Congress leader is alive and on a tour in Geneva.

Hence, we conclude that the claim about Divya Spandana's demise is false.
