Fact Check: Did Saudi Arabia and China call Pakistan a ‘slave’?

Social media users are claiming that China and Saudi Arabia have called Pakistan their ‘slave’. A screengrab titled ‘Pakistan is our slave, soon we will conquer entire Pakistan’ attributed to China and ‘Pakistan’s are our slaves, says Saudi defence minister’ is viral on social media.

An X user has shared the screengrabs with the caption ‘Both China and Saudi Arabia claim that Pakistan is their slave. A Pakistani can now decide where to go for slavery.’

Fact Check

NewsMeter found the screengrabs old and fake.

To verify the authenticity of the claim whether Saudi Arabia has really called Pakistan its slave. We conducted a keyword search and found several reports on the same issue.

A report by the Quint dated June 13, 2017, termed the news as fake.

‘Mustaqbil Pakistan party leader Nadeem M Qureshi also responded to Taveer’s tweet about the letter being “fake news”, the report stated.

A Times of India report dated June 14, 2017, also clarified that ‘The veracity of the letter could not be confirmed’.

While verifying the authenticity of another screengrab, apparently taken from Global Times, we searched for the same news on the Global Times website but could not find the news.

On closely analyzing the picture, we found that the original headline of the news has been replaced. It can be seen in the picture that the dateline of the news has also been scrubbed.
