Right-wing Hindu groups are running a social boycott campaign against the film after the release of its first song "Beshram Rang." They have alleged that the song hurts "Hindu sentiments" because Padukone wore a saffron bikini in one of the shots.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the photograph dates back to 2019 when Padukone attended the Cannes International Film Festival in France.
On performing a reverse image search of the photo, we found it on multiple reports from 2019. According to an article in Vogue, published on 17 May 2019, it was one of Padukone's looks from the 72nd Cannes Film Festival in 2019. It said she had donned a striped suit by LOEWE and neon orange pumps from Stuart Weitzman.
Padukone's stylist Shaleena Nathani had also posted the photo on Instagram in 2019 and used the hashtag #cannes2019.
It is evident that the photo is from 2019. Hence, we conclude that the claim that Deepika Padukone wore saffron shoes to mock the people protesting against 'Pathaan' is misleading.
