Hyderabad: A WhatsApp forward in Telugu is doing rounds claiming that the newly elected Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy has passed an order making it mandatory for the children of government employees to enrol in government schools.
The message also says that the government employees not following the order will not be provided increments and promotions and will have to give up all the government facilities.
NewsMeter verified that Revanth Reddy has not passed any such order.
We ran a relevant keyword search about the Telangana government making it mandatory for government employees to enrol their children in government schools. We did not come across any report by credible media outlets. Had the order of this magnitude been passed, it would have been reported.
We also analysed the press releases on the Telangana chief minister’s website but did not find the order mentioned in the claim. The latest press releases are from December 15, one of them is asking the police to avoid troubling the common people by not stopping the traffic for the CM convoy to pass and addressing similar grievances.
TPCC spokesperson Sama Ram Mohan Reddy, speaking to NewsMeter confirmed that no such orders have been passed. He said, “There is no such official order from the chief minister or chief minister’s office (CMO). Don’t believe the fake message being circulated on social media.”
We also contacted the public relations officer in the CMO, who confirmed that the viral message is fake and no such order had been passed.
Hence, we conclude that the claim that CM Revanth Reddy has passed an order making it mandatory for government employees to enrol their children in government schools is false.
