Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the company has issued a statement stating that the claim is “misleading and inaccurate.” However, we also could not find any statement regarding the discontinuation of the category Reynolds 045 Fine Carbure pens.
We checked the website of the Reynolds and came across a pop message addressed to customers, partners and stakeholders. It said the recent misinformation about Reynolds in various media is “misleading and inaccurate.” It also said that the company is planning to “expand and grow writing business in India”.
We also found the same clarification posted on the company’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts. It was stated in the caption that the viral information is false. The company has advised its partners, stakeholders, and customers to refer to the company’s website and social media channels for any updates.
Next, we looked for the announcement regarding Reynolds 045 Fine Carbure pens on the company’s website and social media pages but did not find any. NewsMeter has sent a mail to the company asking specifically if they are going to discontinue its iconic category, Reynolds 045 Fine Carbure. The story will be updated as and when they respond.
Since we have not found any announcement from Reynolds about leaving the Indian market or discontinuing its iconic pen Reynolds 045 Fine Carbure, we conclude that the claims are misleading.
