Hyderabad: A Facebook reel showing a series of photos reportedly of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben Modi is circulating on social media.
Heeraben Modi died on 30 December at the age of 99.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that three pictures in the reel are not of Heeraben Modi. The claim is misleading.
Picture 1
On performing a reverse image search of the first picture, we found a family photo posted by a Facebook user, Maryala Srinivas. The same woman can be seen sitting on the extreme right. As per the caption, the woman is Maryala Srinivas' mother.
Picture 2
A reverse image search of the second photo led us to an article about Mr. Modi's family tree published by Navbharat Times on 30 December 2022. According to the article, the woman in this picture is Vasanthiben Modi, the sister of Narendra Modi.

Finally, on performing a reverse image search of the third picture, we found the same woman speaking to NDTV. According to the channel, she is film journalist Bhawana Somaaya.
It is evident that these pictures are not of Heeraben Modi, the mother of PM Modi. Hence, we conclude that the claim is misleading.
