Hyderabad: To keep a check on air pollution in Delhi, the AAP government imposed a complete ban on the production, sale, and use of all types of firecrackers, including green crackers, till 1 January.

After the ban, the BJP accused AAP of being anti-Hindu. BJP leader Manoj Tiwari went to the Supreme Court seeking an urgent hearing of a plea challenging the ban on firecrackers. However, his plea was turned down by the court.

Against this backdrop, taking a dig at the AAP government and the Supreme Court, a video is being shared with the claim that it shows fireworks in Delhi.

A Facebook user shared the video and wrote, "Happy Diwali MiLords..........Well done Delhi."

Another Facebook user shared the video claiming the same.

A day after Diwali, Delhi's air quality was "very poor" after the people of Delhi flouted the diktat of the Delhi government. However, the viral video does not show fireworks in Delhi.

Fact Check

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search of the video's keyframe and found the same video posted on 2 January 2022 on Twitter. According to the user, the video shows the public flouting the ban on fireworks during New Year's eve in Naples, Italy.

Steve Hanke, a professor of Applied Economics at John Hopkins University, shared the video on Twitter and wrote, "The Mayor of Naples, Italy cited COVID as the reason to ban fireworks on New Year's Eve. But, the Neapolitans were having none of it. Watch as fireworks light up the Italian night this past NYE:"

Further, we found the same video published on 4 January 2020 by a verified YouTube channel, Turning Point USA, titled "NAPLES, ITALY COMPLETELY DEFIES MAYOR'S FIREWORK BAN DUE TO COVID."

It is evident that the video is old and is from Naples, Italy. Hence, the claim is false.
