Hyderabad: On October 18, a chopper carrying pilgrims from Kedarnath temple to Guptkashi crashed into a hill due to poor visibility. All seven people, including a pilot, lost their lives in the accident.
Against this backdrop, an image of a helicopter exploding mid-air is being shared. Users claim it to be the visual of the Kedarnath chopper crash.
Rahul Gurjar, a BJP leader shared the image and wrote, "The news of helicopter crash, carrying pilgrims to Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand, is disturbing."

Fact Check
NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found the same image used for the representational purpose in a Deccan Herald article published in 2020. The article reported on the Military helicopter crash in Russia.
Further, we found the same image uploaded on iStock in 2015.

It is evident that the viral image predates the Kedarnath chopper crash of 18 October. Hence, the claim is false.
