FACT CHECK:

The claim that this incident took place in Uttar Pradesh after India's loss in the T20 World Cup match is false.

NewsMeter performed a reverse image and found the same image carried in a June 2017 report by India Today. The report states that several people had broken television sets, burned posters of Indian players, and chanted angry slogans against the Indian cricket team after they lost to Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy final.

Pakistan won the Champions Trophy by defeating India in 2017 and this led to displeased Indian fans taking to the streets to express their disdain. The same was also reported by Dawn and Deccan Herald. Supporters of team India took to the streets at Paldi in Ahmedabad after India lost the match to Pakistan. The image is captioned, "Cricket fans break television sets after India lost the match against Pakistan, in Ahmedabad on Sunday. PTI Photo."

In 2017, Pakistan lifted the Champions Trophy defeating India with an emphatic margin. India was bowled out for 158 in the 31st over of the second innings. This loss caused chaos. In Kanpur, Ahmedabad, and Haridwar, many residents broke their TVs amidst angry chants against Indian cricketers. Security was increased at MS Dhoni's Ranchi residence to stop any attempts of stone-pelting or untoward incident.

Clearly, the incident is from 2017 after Pakistan defeated India in the Champions Trophy.

For clarification of location, NewsMeter checked the location of the viral image and found that the two shops, 'Robbery' and 'Dharnidhar Parlour', are located in Ahmedabad.

Clearly, the viral image is from a 2017 incident that took place in Ahmedabad. It is not linked to India's loss in the T20 World Cup.

Thus, the claim is false.
