Old photo falsely shared as Ambani family watching ‘Pathaan’ with SRK

Hyderabad: A photo of Shah Rukh Khan taking a selfie with Mukesh Ambani’s family and AR Rahman is circulating on social media. It is being claimed that the photo was taken when Amban’s family watched SRK’s recently-released film ‘Pathaan.’
A Twitter user shared the photo and wrote, “While you guys are boycotting the film outside the theatres, the Ambani family is watching Pathaan with SRK. (Translated) (Archive)

Fact Check
NewMeter found that the photo was taken during the launch of Reliance Jio in 2015.
On performing a reverse image search of the photo, we found it in a report by Financial Express from 28 December 2015. The report carries several photos of SRK with the Ambanis, including the viral one.
Reliance Jio 4G services were rolled out on 28 December 2015, which was also the 83rd birthday of Dhirubhai Ambani, the father of Mukesh Ambani.
We also found that a photo from the Jio event was tweeted by Hindustan Times on 28 December. The photo shows SRK taking a selfie with the Ambanis and AR Rahman.
It is evident that the viral photo is from 2015 and shows SRK taking a selfie during the launch of Reliance Jio 4G. Hence, we conclude that the claim is false.
