Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the video shows a building collapse in Florida in 2021.
A verified user, Donna Leinwand Leger, had commented on the viral post and said the video shows a condominium collapse in Sunny Isles, Florida. She also shared a link to a video report by the ABC7 news channel, which shows the same visual as seen in the viral video.
The video was published on 25 June 2021 and is titled āVideo shows moment of condo building collapse in Surfside, Florida.ā
Taking a cue from this, we ran a keyword search and found the video in a report published by the NBC News South Florida website on 24 June 2021. It said the footage shows a section of the 12-storey Champlain Towers crashing down.
On 24 June 2021, Andy Slater, a talk show host, tweeted the video and said it shows a building collapse in Surfside, Florida.
It is evident that the video dates back to 2021 and is from Florida. It does not show a building collapse in Turkey. Hence, we conclude that the claim is misleading.
