HYDERABAD: A video of a temple being demolished, while a mosque beside it stays untouched, is viral on Facebook.
Netizens claim that the temple is the Vijayeshwara Temple in Vijayawada is being demolished for road widening, while the mosque is not. Netizens claim this sums up the situation of Hindus in Andhra Pradesh.
The video is being shared with the text, "In Vijayawada, they are demolishing the Shiva temple. They are not able to do anything to the mosque. This one example is enough to prove how Hindus are being treated in AP."

Newsmeter noticed that the same video was being shared on Facebook even in 2020. That means this incident did not take place recently.

In one of these posts, a Facebook user posted a picture of a news article on the temple's demolition. He said the Vijayeshwara temple was undergoing a development process. A revenue of Rs 130 crore was set aside for the development. Shops in front of the temple were removed.
Krishna Sharma, the appointed scholar of the temple, said that the development work was being misrepresented as a deliberate demolition. He appealed to the public to not believe the misinformation being spread on social media. (Read here)
