Fact Check

NewsMeter found the claim to be false as the video is old and unrelated to the World Cup 2023. We performed a simple keyword search on X using the keyword #Samaira and found the same video shared since November 24.

Through an extensive search, we found the same video shared June 28, 2022, in the context of the captain being COVID positive. The video was shared with the context, ‘#RohitSharma Daughter #samaira gives health update about his father. Look how cute is she.’

Taking this as a cue, we performed a keyword and found the same video as YouTube shorts on YouTube uploaded last year in June 2022.

Moving ahead, we also found a media report on Navabharat Hindi dated June 28, 2022 along with a user’s tweet embedded in it. According to the report, ‘Indian team captain Rohit Sharma has recently been found corona positive. Rohit Sharma is currently in England. He had come for the series to be played against England. Meanwhile, the video of Rohit Sharma’s daughter Samaira is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In this video, Samaira comes out of the hotel with her mother Ritika and Nanny.”
