Hyderabad: A video of Sikhs singing in chorus in praise of Lord Ram is in circulation on social media allegedly in relation to the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
“#Ayodhya - Today Sikhs and Hindus together remembered Prabhu Ram and Guru Nanak Dev ji at Ram Ki Pedhi and paid tribute to Guru Gobind Singh Ji,” wrote an X user while sharing the video.
NewsMeter found that the video is at least five years old and is being falsely linked to Ram Temple’s inauguration.
We ran a search of the keywords ‘bolo ram bolo ram’ and came across the video on YouTube published on December 28, 2021.
We also found an extended version of the video published on the verified YouTube channel ‘Bhai Manpreet Singh Ji Kanpuri’ on April 8, 2020. The viral clip appears in this video at the 40:15-minute mark.
The ticker running in the video mentioned that it shows the annual Akhand Keerthan Samagam held in Mumbai on February 20-24, 2019. We also found the website domain ‘akg.org’ mentioned in the video.
The About section of the website mentioned that the Akhand Keertanee Jathaa (AKJ) ‘enjoy an active style of Keertan collectively recited by Sikhs in front of Sree Guru Granth Sahib Jee.’ We also found the video on AKJ’s YouTube channel on February 24, 2019.
Hence, we conclude that the viral clip is from 2019 and is being falsely linked to the Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya.
