Social media users are sharing an old video claiming that the video is from a recent cyclone in Libya.

No, the cyclone video is not from Libya

A video of a cyclone is doing rounds on social media with users claiming that the video is from Hurricane in Libya just before the devastating floods.

An X user shared the video with the caption ā€˜This is not any movie scene, but a hurricane in Libyaā€™.



Several other users have shared the video claiming the same.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the is unrelated to Libya.

We conducted a reverse image search on one of the keyframes of the video and found a YouTube link featuring the same video. The video was uploaded on September 4, 2023. There were no reports of any windstorm or cyclone in Libya and the floods occurred on September 10, 2023.

The same video was uploaded on another verified YouTube channel dated September 5.

ā€˜Tornado Damage in Coastal Townā€™ the description of the video reads.

We also searched Google with the related keywords but could not any satisfying results of any cyclone in Libya.

We however could not confirm the origin of the video but it is confirmed that the video is not from Libya.
