Hyderabad: A video of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan walking around a hospital in a blue gown is being shared with the claim that he is faking a leg injury.
The video comes after Mr. Khan survived an assassination attempt. He was shot in his leg during the "Real Freedom" rally in Pakistan's Wazirabad on 3 November.
A Facebook user who shared the video suggested that Imran Khan was faking his injury and wrote, "Imran Khan should be awarded Oscar in acting. Shahrukh Khan, Amir Khan and Salman Khan should learn acting from Imran Khanā¦" (Translated)
A Twitter user shared the video with the same claim. (Click here to see the post.)
Fact Check
NewsMeter performed a reverse image search of the video's keyframe and found a longer version of the same video published on the YouTube channel Imran Khan Cancer Appeal on 21 August 2021.
The description stated that Imran Khan inaugurated the newly-constructed operation theatres at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Peshawar, Pakistan.
Further, we found the same video posted by the Twitter handle of Shaukat Khanum Hospital on 6 August 2021.
Imran Khan also posted photos of his visit to Shaukat Khanum Hospital on 6 August 2021. He wrote, "Delighted to visit @SKMCH Peshawar today to inaugurate newly completed operating room suite & intensive care unit (ICU). The opening of these state-of-the-art facilities at the hospital marks the completion of the final phase in the commissioning of SKMCH, Peshawar which opened in 2015."
It is evident that the video is not recent. Hence, the claim that the video shows Imran Khan faking his injury after an assassination attempt on him is false.
