Hyderabad: Pakistani beef masala pack image digitally altered to defame Baba Ramdev's Patanjali

Beef consumption has been a controversial topic in India. Anything around beef becomes viral within no time.

An image of the Biriyani spice pack under the 'Ramdev's Patanjali' brand name and logo has gone viral on social media.

In the viral post, we can see a tweet with the caption, 'Hehe, now Qatar will eat Purely 'HALAL' Indian Nationalist MEAT/CHICKEN/BEEF curry cooked in PATANJALI MEAT MASALA, PATANJALI CHICKEN MASALA. But in India everyone should Blink their left eye, do yoga and go Vegan.'

It is quite uncommon to even think about the Yoga Guru Ramdev Baba selling Beef mix packs under his brand name. He was the one who demanded cow be declared a national animal.

Let's dig the truth out.

FACT CHECK

NewsMeter scanned the official website of Ramdev Baba's brand "Patanjali Ayurvedic Limited", to check whether the 'Beef Mix' is listed in the spice section. We could not find the product or similar products listed on their website.

On carefully observing the image we found that on one side of the viral image, there is a brand name 'National'. It can be seen instead of 'Ramdev'.

On performing a simple reverse image search with the viral image, we found the same pack of Beef Recipe mix on the e-commerce website of National Foods Limited, a Pakistan-based multinational food products company.

In the description it is written that "National Beef Biryani Recipe Mix is a combination of spicy rice with cooked beef, specially made by a panel of experts, using aromatic spices and the finest ingredients in exactly the right measure. It will enable you to cook meals with ease".

Taking a strong cue from the original brand and packaging, we compared the original and the viral image to understand how the image has been altered to defame 'Patanjali' led by Ramdev Baba.

When it comes to Beef, it is quite a big deal in India as it is moreover related to religious sentiments.

The viral image is altered or edited.
