A video has been circulating on social media, with the claim that MP Pappu Yadav adopted a saffron-clad appearance and began singing devotional songs following his recent meeting with PM Modi during the Purnia airport inauguration.

Fact:The claim is misleading. The video is from the Ram Navami procession from April 7.
Hyderabad: During the September 15 inauguration of Purnea Airport, Independent MP Pappu Yadav from Purnia shared the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Despite having pledged his support to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and merging his Jan Adhikar Party-Loktantrik (JAP-L) with the Congress, Yadav engaged in a brief conversation with the PM that managed to elicit a smile from Modi.
In this context, a video circulating on social media shows Pappu Yadav emerging from a car’s sunroof, dressed in saffron attire including a saffron turban, apparently singing bhajans while leading a cavalcade of vehicles through streets lined with crowds. The video is being shared with claims that Yadav adopted this saffron-clad appearance and began singing devotional songs following his recent encounter with PM Modi during the Purnia event.
An X user shared the video with the caption, “In just a few seconds on the stage, what did Modiji whisper in Pappu Yadav’s ear that made the person who, just a week ago, Rahul Gandhi had him chant ‘Salam Walekum, Jai Bhim’ from the stage but always avoided saying ‘Namaste, Jai Shri Ram,’ today turn saffron-clad and sing bhajans of Lord Ram.” (Translated from Hindi) (Archive)

NewsMeter found that the claim is misleading, as Yadav’s video pre-dates his meeting with PM Modi in Purnia on September 15.
We conducted a relevant keyword search and discovered the full-length version of the video, originally posted on April 7 by the official account of Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav.
The extended footage reveals Yadav’s cavalcade passing by a roadside stage where a performer is singing bhajans, with Yadav harmonising along from his vehicle. A banner on the stage clearly identifies the event as a ‘Ram Navami Sobha Yatra.’
On April 7, Yadav also posted images stating that on Ram Navami, he took part in the Sobha Yatra with devotion.
He was joined by people at various locations, including Durga Sthan Madhubani, Madhubani Bazaar, Nagar Nigam Chowk, RN Shah Chowk, Bhatta Bazaar, Rajni Chowk and other places in chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram.’
We also found it reported by the Nav Bharat Times in April 2025, that Pappu had participated in the Ram Navami procession.
Therefore, we conclude that the claim of Pappu Yadav donning saffron attire after his meeting with PM Modi on September 15 is misleading.
