Hyderabad: A photo of Shah Rukh Khan wearing a saffron prison uniform is being shared with the claim that it is a scene from his upcoming movie Pathaan. The film starring SRK and Deepika Padukone will hit the theatres on 25 January 2023.

The claim comes amid controversy after the release of the film's first song "Besharam Rang." Several Hindu groups were outraged at Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron bikini. They alleged that the choice of the bikini colour hurts religious sentiments.

NewsMeter ran a keyword search and found that the viral photo of SRK in the saffron prison uniform is from his film 'Don 2' which was released in 2011.
A video published by Excel movies on YouTube shows the actor wearing the same saffron prison uniform. In the video, the viral scene appears at the 2.28-minute mark. According to the caption, the video shows SRK and Priyanka Chopra in a scene from 'Don 2'.
According to a News18 article published on 16 December 2011, the jail scene from 'Don 2' was shot in an "advanced" prison in Malaysia.
Finally, we came across articles that showed inmates in the Malaysian jail in saffron uniforms. (Read them here and here.)
It is evident that the viral scene of SRK wearing saffron jail uniform is from 'Don 2' which was shot in Malaysia and is not from his upcoming much-awaited Pathaan. Hence, the claim is misleading.
