Fact Check
NewMeter performed a reverse image search and found the original photo carried in a 2015 article published by Business Lines. The original photo shows PM Modi standing alongside the then Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Nirmala Sitharaman.
According to the article, the photograph was taken on 5 November 2015, during the launch of Gold related schemes.
PM Modi, on 5 November 2015, also shared the same photo on Twitter, stating that it was a moment of pride for him to launch gold coins bearing Ashok Chakra.
A closer look at both photos makes it evident that the viral photo of PM Modi holding the framed photograph of Sidhu Moosewala is morphed. Hence, the viral photo is misleading.
