Hyderabad: Social media users are sharing a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi wearing a Khasi outfit and mocking him for wearing a woman's outfit. The PM's photo is accompanied by a screenshot of a similar outfit. It is being claimed that Mr. Modi is wearing a woman's dress.
The screenshot shows that the multi-floral attire costs $35.
Trinamool Congress leader and former Indian cricketer Kirti Azad shared the image on Twitter and wrote, "He is neither a male nor a female. He is only a priest of fashion." (Translated)

Fact Check
NewsMeter noticed that the screenshot of the attire had similar wrinkles as seen in Mr. Modi's photos. This gave us the cue that the screenshot could be morphed.
Further, we searched for the "multi-floral embroidered dress" and came across a black dress with floral embroidery that cost $35 on the website Shoreline Wear. According to the website, the company is based in the US and manufactures its products in competitive Asian markets.
On comparing the dress from the website with the screenshot, we found that the original product's neckline is visible in the viral screenshot.
It is evident that the traditional Khasi dress that PM Modi is wearing has been digitally superimposed on the viral screenshot taken from a US-based shopping website. Hence, we conclude that the screenshot is morphed and the claim that Mr. Modi is wearing a woman's dress is false.
According to The Print, on 18 December, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Shillong to lay foundation stones for various projects in Meghalaya worth Rs. 2,450 crores. During the visit, he wore a traditional Khasi outfit along with a Garo hat in Shillong to pay respect to the culture of the tribes of the state.
