Hyderabad: A video purportedly showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising Christianity and speaking about Jesus Christ is being widely circulated on social media. In the clip, a voice resembling the Prime Minister appears to say that ‘only Jesus Christ can guide him to the shore,’ prompting discussions and reactions online.

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The viral video has been created using Artificial Intelligence and does not depict a genuine statement by the Prime Minister.
Analysis of the video
We first searched the net for any recent media reports about PM Modi speaking about Christianity and Jesus Christ, but we couldn’t find any. This hinted to us that the video has been fabricated.
A close visual analysis of the clip shows inconsistencies typical of AI-generated media. PM Modi’s facial expressions, lip synchronisation and hand movements appear unnatural and lack the fluidity seen in authentic video footage.
To further verify its authenticity, NewsMeter analysed the video using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation. The analysis indicated a very high probability – over 99 per cent – that the video is AI-generated.
