A video of Priyanka Gandhi has been circulating online, claiming it shows her mocking PM Modi over his reaction to the alleged abusive remarks made against him and his mother in Bihar.

Fact:The claim is misleading. The video of Priyanka taking jibes at PM Modi is from 2023.
Hyderabad: On September 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned objectionable and abusive remarks made against him and his late mother, allegedly from the stage of a Congress-RJD rally during the recently concluded Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga, Bihar, calling it an insult to all mothers, sisters and daughters of the country.
Now, a speech by Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi has been circulating on social media, with claims it shows the Congress leader mocking PM Modi for his emotional speech and condemnation.
In the video, Priyanka Gandhi takes sarcastic jibes at PM Modi, stating that he keeps crying in self-pity and complaining about receiving insults, drawing a parallel to the film ‘Tere Naam,’ where the protagonist constantly cries. She playfully suggests a movie titled ‘Mere Naam’ for PM Modi.
An Instagram account shared the video with the caption, “Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra smirked while mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an emotional speech about insults directed at his late mother. This comes amid a political row over abusive language reportedly used against the Prime Minister and his mother during a rally in Bihar.” (Archive)

NewsMeter found that the claim is misleading, as the video of Priyanka Gandhi is from 2023. It does not show her taking jibes at PM Modi after abuses reportedly hurled against him in Bihar.
We conducted a keyword search and found the extended version of the viral clip published by ANI on November 15, 2023, titled “‘Mere Naam…’ Priyanka Gandhi bats for movie on PM Modi similar to Salman Khan’s ‘Tere Naam’.”
According to the news agency, Priyanka Gandhi, who was in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh at the time, while addressing a public rally in Datia, mocked PM Modi, stating, “Since PM Modi keeps crying, a movie should be made on him ‘Mere Naam’ similar to Salman Khan’s ‘Tere Naam.’”
We also found the video in a report by India Today published on November 15, 2023, titled ‘Priyanka Gandhi’s ‘Tere Naam’ dig at PM, ‘short’ jab at Jyotiraditya Scindia.’
According to the report, during a November 15, 2023, rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made sarcastic remarks about PM Modi, calling him the first Prime Minister who ‘remains upset in his own pain permanently’ and ‘keeps crying.’
She also targeted her former colleague Jyotiraditya Scindia, who had switched from Congress to the BJP, mocking his height and arrogance, claiming he insisted on being called “Maharaj”.
We also found Priyanka Gandhi’s address in Datia live-streamed on the Congress party’s YouTube channel on November 15, 2023, titled ‘Smt. Priyanka Gandhi ji addresses the public in Datia, Madhya Pradesh.’
The viral clip appears after 21 minutes, showing her taking jibes at several BJP leaders, including PM Modi, then-Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Therefore, we conclude that the viral clip is from 2023, and the claim that Priyanka Gandhi mocked PM Modi for his emotional reaction to abusive remarks hurled at him and his late mother recently in Bihar is misleading.
