HYDERABAD: A video of thousands of protesters marching on the streets is being shared online. Users claim that these are the visuals of a recent protest held in Andhra Pradesh.

Social media users claim that the protesters were chanting "Jai Balayya, Jai Telugu Desam" slogans during the protest.

The video is being shared with the caption, "Madanapalle resounded with Jai Balayya Jai Telugudesam slogans @JaiTDP. Jai TDP, Jai Lokesh Anna, Jai CBN".

Madanapalle is a city in Andhra Pradesh.

NewsMeter first noticed that the audio in the viral video is not clear. The slogan 'Jai Balayya, Jai Telugu Desam' cannot be heard clearly.

We performed an InVid search and found a website called 'Bit Chut' that carried the same video in its article. The title indicates that the incident took place in Sri Lanka and shows protesters occupying the presidential building amid the country's economic crisis.

Using the location as a hint, we searched online for more relevant details and found several Twitter users sharing similar videos of protests in Sri Lanka.

Earlier this week, thousands of protesters in Colombo stormed the president's official residence and his secretariat amid the country's worst economic crisis. According to reports by 'News 24' and 'CNN', some protesters, holding Sri Lankan flags and helmets, broke into the president's residence, and thousands of protesters broke open the gates of the sea-front presidential secretariat.

The viral video was taken during this protest.
