Hyderabad: ‘Coolie’ starring actor Rajinikanth, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, was released in theatres on August 14. As the internet is buzzing with discussions on the movie, a video of a man making critical remarks about a movie is going viral.
The video is circulating online with claims that the person in the video is talking about the 'Coolie' movie. In the video, the man is heard speaking in Tamil, saying, "Why did we even come here? Just stop this show, and nobody else should come. Not even a single scene is good."

NewsMeter found that the viral claims are false. The video does not show a review of the movie 'Coolie'; it is an old video showing a review of the 'Liger' movie.
A reverse image search of the viral video’s keyframes showed that the same video was uploaded to YouTube on October 10, 2024, titled ‘#Vettaiyan Movie Review’. We also found it uploaded on February 6, 2025, with the title ‘Vidaamuyarchi Negative Review’.
The viral video shows a person interviewing people with a mic labelled ‘Voice of Madras’. Following this lead, we checked social media accounts under the name ‘Voice of Madras’ and found the same video uploaded to YouTube Shorts on August 25, 2022. The description did not mention the name of the movie being reviewed, but included a link to the full video.
In one part of the video, the interviewer asks, “How was the scene where Mike Tyson appears?”. It is worth noting that Mike Tyson acted in the film Liger, which was released on August 25, 2022.
The viral video is from this video. It starts at the 3:46 minute mark. The rest of the video also features people giving their opinion on the Vijay Devarakonda starer 'Liger' movie.
Hence, we conclude that the viral video does not show people discussing the recently released ‘Coolie’ movie. It is an old video capturing public reactions after watching ‘Liger’. Therefore, the viral claim is false.
