Hyderabad: A photo of India cricket captain Rohit Sharma lying on a hospital bed is circulating on the internet. Social media users have claimed that the Indian skipper donated blood to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant after the latter met with an accident.

Rishabh Pant suffered a near-fatal accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway while driving to his home in Roorkee on 30 December 2022. A Haryana Roadways bus driver and conductor rescued him from his burning car.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is false. We ran a keyword search and did not find any news reports of Rohit Sharma donating blood to Rishabh Pant.
On performing a reverse image search of the viral photo, we found it was tweeted by Rohit Sharma on 11 November 2016.
We also found the photo in an article published by The Indian Express on 12 November 2016. It said Rohit had undergone successful surgery on his right upper quadriceps tendon in London.
According to another article in The Indian Express published on 31 December 2022, Rohit Sharma, who was in the Maldives with his family on the eve of the new year, spoke to doctors treating Pant.
We also found that Rohit Sharma and his wife had shared photos on Instagram from their Maldives trip which confirms that Sharma was not in India at the time of Pant's accident.
Since we could not find any report of Rohit Sharma donating blood to Rishabh Pant, we conclude that the claim is false.
