Hyderabad: A post is viral on social media claiming that the Supreme Court has admitted a petition seeking action under the Atrocities Act against those who verbally abuse the Brahmin community.

Fact check:

The claim is false.

NewsMeter conducted keyword searches on Google but found no media reports on the Supreme Court's alleged decision to widen the scope of the Atrocities Act to Brahmins. We also did not find any such articles on other legal news websites, such as Live Law and Bar and Bench.

Further, we checked the Supreme Court of India's official website, and could not find any order pf admitting the plea seeking action against those who abuse Brahmins under the Atrocities Act.

Newschecker Hindi spoke to Supreme Court advocate Anurag Ojha, who refuted the viral claim saying it's completely false. He said Supreme Court has not taken any such decision.
