Hyderabad: A video clip showing the abduction of a reporter in a car in broad daylight is going viral on social media, with users claiming that that incident really happened in Dimapur, Nagaland.

Facebook users have shared the video with the caption, “Reporter got kidnapped in day broad light at Dimapur.”

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the video is from a Bhojpuri film shot in Dimapur, Nagaland.

While skimming through the comment section of one of the posts, we found a user saying that the clip shows scenes from the Bhojpuri film “Hum Hai Rowdy SP Vijay.” He also mentioned that the film was shot in Dimapur, Nagaland, in 2022 and shared a YouTube link to the film.

At 8.53 minutes into the video, the viral clip appears. It shows the same reporter with a cameraman. A white Omni stops beside her and a man drags her into it. It also shows the cameraman running behind the Omni after the 'abduction,' as seen in the viral video.

On Google Street View, we could verify that the scenes in the viral video and the YouTube video were shot at the City Tower in Dimapur, Nagaland.


Hence, we conclude that the viral clip showing the reporter’s abduction is from a film and is not a real incident. The claim is false.
