Hyderabad: A video showing a young man in a heated argument with an elderly is going viral on social media.
Users claim that after the young man gave triple talaq to his wife, he fixed her nikah halala with his grandfather. However, his grandfather refused to complete the nikah halala and decided to stay married to the woman.
Context: As per the Sharia law, halala is a practice after triple talaq in which divorced women are required to marry another man, consummate the marriage, and then divorce him to remarry her former husband.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the viral video is scripted.
On performing a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe, we found an extended version of the video published on November 25, 2022, on a YouTube channel named ‘Sharmin Shakil.’ The English translation of the Bengali caption reads, “Son-in-law married 80-year-old grandfather’s daughter-in-law mysterious event | Sharmin Shakil 2022.”
At around seven minutes into the video, the viral clip appears. While the viral video only showed the argument, in the full video, the characters can also be seen smiling and laughing, which gave us the cue that it does not show a real incident.
The description also confirms that the video is scripted. It reads, “Hello friends how are you? I have come to you with today’s entertainment. Keep watching the entertainment and if you like the video, like, comment, share, thank you.”
The description also has the location mentioned as Bangladesh.
Further, we checked the other videos on the channel and found the same people appearing on them which confirms that the channel uploads scripted videos. (Click here and here to see the videos.)
Hence, we conclude that the viral video is scripted and is being falsely shared as a real incident.
