Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the video is from Mexico.

On performing a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe, we found the same video published by a YouTube channel on 20 March. The caption stated that the video shows the visuals of Mexican soldiers.

Taking this as a cue, we ran a keyword search and found a longer video shot from a different angle showing the same visuals published by Al Jazeera English on 28 February. As per the description, the video shows residents of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico in a scuffle with soldiers after accusing them of killing five unarmed young men.

We also came across reports by CBS News and Al Jazeera which said after Mexican soldiers killed five people in the border city of Nuevo Laredo, a clash broke out between residents and soldiers.

A Spanish report of 1 March said that the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Mexico has asked for an impartial investigation into the murders of five young people in Nuevo Laredo at the hands of Mexican soldiers.

Hence, we conclude that the video does not show Indian soldiers in a scuffle with locals. The claim is false.
