Hyderabad: A screenshot of a tweet by BBC News Hindi about Shah Rukh Khan is doing the rounds of social media. It claims that the actor has said he will donate the first-day earnings of his upcoming movie 'Pathaan' to a Pakistan NGO.

According to the tweet, Shah Rukh Khan said, "Pakistan is my second home, Pathan's first day's earnings will be donated to Pakistani NGO. John Abraham supported, Deepika said she was not afraid of the boycott gang before and will not be afraid even now."

This comes amid controversy following the release of the first song from 'Pathaan'.

Fact Check

NewsMeter ran a reverse image search of the viral screenshot and found no related cues. Also, we could not find any other news reports about any such statement made by Shah Rukh Khan or Deepika Padukone.

Taking the date mentioned in the viral screenshotā€”15 December 2022ā€”as a cue, we scanned BBC News Hindi's Twitter page but could not find any post about Shah Rukh Khan's statement.

We then took a close look at the viral screenshot and noticed "Twitter for OKsatire" on the bottom right corner of the tweet. This clearly indicates that the viral tweet is fabricated.

Hence, the claim is false.
