Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The viral video is not related to lawyer Rakesh Kishore or the recent shoe-throwing incident.
On close observation, we can clearly see a text overlay on the viral video that reads, “Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan brutally...”
The video description reads, “Lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan was today roughed and beaten up by three youths suspected to belong to a right-wing group, in his Supreme Court chamber for his advocacy of plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir.”
We also found an NDTV report which embedded the attack video published on October 12, 2011, titled ‘Prashant Bhushan attacked in his chambers at Supreme Court.’
The report stated that Bhushan, a core member of Team Anna, was assaulted in his Supreme Court chamber by three individuals while he was in the middle of a TV interview. He was slapped and kicked before other lawyers rushed to help him.
These details confirm that the video now circulating is from 2011 and depicts the attack on Prashant Bhushan, not Rakesh Kishore.
Further, no credible news reports or official sources mention any attack on lawyer Rakesh Kishore following the shoe-throwing incident.
Therefore, the claim that the video shows an attack on Rakesh Kishore is false.
