Hyderabad: A video clip of Singapore University of Technology and Design researchers claiming that India will be coronavirus-free by June 18, is viral on social media.
This video is spreading misinformation. Currently, no such claim has been made by the Singapore University of Technology and Design.
Fact Check:
Firstly, News Meter checked the YouTube account of TV9 and found out that the viral video is not recent. The video was telecasted in 2020.
Singapore University of Technology and Design researchers in a report had said that India will be 100 percent coronavirus-free by July 25, 2020. Using the Artificial Intelligence-Driven data analysis method, the Singapore University in its report said that 97 percent of coronavirus cases from India will eradicate by May 22, 99 percent by June 1, and by July 25, the country will be 100 percent free from coronavirus.
Secondly, News Meter also checked if any website published the claim of Singapore University of Technology and Design. It has been noted that the websites have published articles in April 2020. Various websites such as India TV News published the article.
Evidently, the viral video is false. The video is from 2020 and no such recent claim has been made by the Singapore University of Technology and Design researchers.
