Hyderabad: An image of a soldier, identified as Kamlesh Singh, is doing the rounds of social media with the claim that he sacrificed his life for the country recently.
The viral post is a collage of two photosāone is of Kamlesh Singh and the other of his last journey. The caption translates to, "Kamlesh from Bakhtiyar, who joined the Indian Army at the tender age of 19, sacrificed his life today."
Social media users have shared the images claiming Kamlesh Singh was recently martyred.

So, who is Kamlesh Kumar Singh?
According to a post on the official Facebook page called Heroes in Uniform, "19 year old, RIFLEMAN KAMLESH KUMAR laid down his life, defending the Line of Control along Kupwara sector from 'unprovoked ceasefire violation' by Pak Army. The young warrior had just completed his 14 months long training and was on his first posting to Kupwara, where his unit was deployed."
The post is from 16 September 2019 suggesting that Kamlesh Kumar was martyred in 2019.
Taking a cue from this, we ran a keyword search that led us to a report by Jagran dated 15 September 2019. It says martyr Kamlesh Kumar's body was handed over to his family and his last rites were performed.
Lastly, we found a YouTube video on the official channel of Bihar Tak depicting the scene from Kamlesh's village. Hundreds of people came out on the streets to bid farewell to their brave son. People can be seen crying while chanting "Bharat Mata Ki Jai."
It is evident that soldier Kamlesh Singh sacrificed his life in 2019.
Hence, the claim is false.
