By Newsmeter Network Published on 8 Jan 2021 5:56 AM GMTHYDERABAD: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), which recruits staff for different posts in various ministries and departments of the Government of India and subordinate offices recently introduced the 'Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2020', an exam pattern that will be held in four tiers - the first two online, and the rest offline.
Following this, a viral notice purportedly issued by SSC is viral on social media with the text: "In the view of increasing Load on SSC server, the commission has decided to introduce a new Tier named "Tier-0". This will be qualifying in nature. The Candidate can only apply for jobs after qualifying. Further details will be shared in due course (sic),"
This is being shared on social media with the caption" They have added a "TIER-0" in SSC exam. Only those students who can break through this server downstage will be eligible for TIER-1. Complete mental torture." (Archive)

FACT CHECK:
NewsMeter found that the viral notice is fake. No such introduction of a Tier 0 has been made by the SSC.
Upon close observation, we noticed a few differences between the viral post and official notices issued by SSC that indicated the post is fake. The font used in the viral notice is different from the notices posted on the official website of SSC. Apart from this, the text alignment in the viral notice also differs from the official SSC notices.
A few grammatical errors such as using an upper case in between a sentence (the word "load" and "for jobs") was also noticed, which is highly unlikely in official order.
Next, we also found that the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has also posted a tweet with the viral post and claimed it to be fake. " A notice allegedly issued by the SSC claims that due to the increasing load on SSC servers a new tier named 'Tier-0' has been introduced and candidates can only apply for jobs after qualifying it. #PIBFactCheck: This notice is #Fake. No such notice has been issued by the SSC," PIB tweeted.
