Hyderabad: A poster and a form allegedly from the Government of Telangana authorising the issuance of new ration cards is making rounds on social media.
Recently, a piece of news claiming that the Telangana State government has authorised the commencement of new ration cards in the state from August 21, has been making rounds on social media.
Posters of the ānotificationā featuring a form and the list of documents needed along with pictures of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Minister KT Rama Rao.

We started our investigation by performing a keyword search online and found a media report on Munsif Daily, published on August 17, which said that the Telangana government has not released such notification.
According to the report, āTelangana Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamlakar has clarified that false information circulating on social media about the issuance of new ration cards is baseless. He emphasised that certain individuals are disseminating unfounded claims regarding the ration card issuance process.ā
Similarly, according to a website that keeps track of government schemes, āMinister Gangula Kamalakar refuted the news, categorically stating that there is no truth to the claims regarding the initiation of new ration card issuance. He termed these reports as false propaganda and urged people not to believe in such misleading information. The minister clarified that the state has not begun the process of issuing new ration cards and warned against sharing false posts. He expressed his frustration over the dissemination of deceptive content aimed at confusing the public.ā
Hence, the claim that the Telangana government is issuing new ration cards is fake.
