Telangana RTC offers discounts on Hindu festivals too
Social media users are claiming the Telangana RTC discount scheme is not provided during Hindu festivals. This follows the announcement of a 25% discount on Telangana RTC cargo parcel services during Ramadan.

HYDERABAD: Social media users are claiming the Telangana RTC discount scheme is not provided during Hindu festivals.
This follows the announcement of a 25% discount on Telangana RTC cargo parcel services during Ramadan.
"TSRTC Ramadan Special Offer TS: Telangana RTC has announced another innovative offer on the occasion of Ramadan. TSRTC MD Sajjanar announced a 25 percent discount on RTC cargo and parcel charges. This offer is valid for up to 5 kg luggage only," reads the offer.
Social media users are questioning the scheme. "Is this secularism ...? Fares have been reduced only for Ramadan and Christmas but not for any Hindu festivals ...!" reads the message
FACT CHECK:
The announcement of a 25% discount on cargo service charges during Ramadan was announced by V.C Sajjanar, MD of the TSRTC Office.
However, the Telangana RTC has announced similar offers during Hindu festivals too. Earlier this month, RTC announced the same 25% discount on cargo service charges for parcels weighing less than 5 kg during the Ugadi festival. It also offered free travel by bus for seniors above the age of 65. (Read more here)
In March 2022, the Telangana RTC made several offers available on the occasion of Sri Ramanavami as well.
Similarly, Telangana RTC has provided a variety of offers for weddings, Pushkar, and other functions too.
The claim of offers being made to only select festivals is false.
