Hyderabad: A video of two men in civil dress holding a man at gunpoint, followed by uniformed officials putting the man into a police van, has gone viral.
It is being claimed that the video shows Adil Kazmi, a person supposedly accused of plotting a blast in Bhopal, getting arrested in a joint operation by the CBI and police.
Sharing the video, an X user wrote, “This is Adil Kazmi, who was plotting to carry out a blast in Bhopal. Due to a joint operation by the CBI and the police, he has already been arrested.” (Archive)
NewsMeter found that the claim is false, as the video is from a Telugu film.
Source of the video
A reverse image search of the video’s keyframe led us to a film published by Telugu film channel Mango Videos on February 12. The viral clip appears at the 3:38-minute mark in the over 10-minute video.
According to the channel, the film is a Telugu horror film titled Tappinchukoleru (they can’t escape). It stars Adarsh, Harish Thenneti, Twinkle Agarwal, Sai Shweta, Akella and Faheem. The film was directed by Rudrapatla Venugopal and produced by Rudrapatla Venugopal (RVG), Talari Vinod Kumar Mudiraj, Srinivas Mamidala and Lalit Kumar under the RVG Movies and SVL Enterprises banners.
This confirms that the viral clip is from a fictional film and not a real incident.
According to the entertainment website Hungama, the film is from 2021 and depicts a terrorist attempting to recreate the tragic Bhopal gas disaster. Two RAW agents plan and execute the operation to stop the terrorist from carrying out the attack. The same details about the film were published by Prime Video.
Are there any news reports about a terror plot targeting Bhopal?
We searched for the latest news reports to verify the claim about a terror plot in Bhopal. The search results did not reveal any information from credible media outlets about a person named ‘Adil Kazmi’ plotting a blast in Bhopal or being arrested.
Hence, we conclude that the viral clip does not depict a real arrest incident in Bhopal. The claim is false.
