HYDERABAD: Social media users are sharing a screenshot of an article claiming Rana Ayyub has said actor Will Smith's slapping stand-up comic Chris Rock at the Oscars is an example of 'Hindutva terror'.
The headline of the article published on the website The Fauxy reads, 'Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock is an Example of How Hinduism Makes One Violent | Writes Rana Ayyub'.
Several social media users have shared the screenshot of the article with captions slamming the journalist. One Twitter user wrote, "This lady @RanaAyyub crossed every possible limit to defame Hinduism (sic)."

The featured images in the- one of Will Smith sitting with folded hands and the other of Rana Ayyub are not linked to the Oscars. The picture of Smith was found on his official Instagram account on April 7, 2019. The picture was clicked in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The image of Rana Ayyub has been taken from her Twitter handle.
Rana Ayyub has tweeted sharing the screenshot of The Fauxy article with the caption, 'Another virtual lynch mob after this fake news masquerading as satire goes viral'. She clearly states that the claim is fake.
The statement that Will Smith slapping stand-up comic Chris Rock at the Oscars is an example of 'Hindutva terror' being attributed to Ayyub is a satire and not true.
