HYDERABAD: On March 24, Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal passed a few comments on "The Kashmir Files".
Later, a picture of his gate with the words 'The Kashmir Files' went viral on social media. The picture seems to suggest that the vandals wrote "It's not a lie. It's horrifying truth (sic)"
Netizens are sharing the picture and supporting the vandalism by praising the text written on the gate.
FACT CHECK:
Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha tweeted a picture of Kejriwal's vandalized house on March 30, 2022. He wrote that the residence was attacked by "BJP goons" and that in the presence of the police "these goons broke barricades, broke CCTV cameras."
However, it should be noted that the photo shared by Chadha did not have the words 'The Kashmir Files' written in red paint.
Similar pictures were also published by 'The Hindu', 'India Today' and 'The Deccan Herald'. The report by 'The Hindu states that based on the date-stamped CCTV footage released by the AAP shows many of the vandals wearing saffron scarves or headgear. They kicked and broke a boom barrier outside the front gate and also banged on the gate of Kejriwal's residence. The black color front gate was vandalized with red paint and a CCTV camera was broken.
NDTV published a video report on the BJP workers clashing with the police outside Kejriwal's residence during a protest against his remarks on the movie The Kashmir Files. However, nowhere is the phrase "The Kashmir Files. It's not a lie. It's horrifying truth" seen.
An edited image of Kejriwal's house being vandalized is being shared. The phrase "The Kashmir Files. It's not a lie. It's horrifying truth" was not written. The gate was only painted.
